The Script Doctors

Wideshot's agents are the Fourth Unit. Greenpen's sibling is the Story Department — the studio-era name for the people who read everything and wrote the coverage. Its members are script doctors: style seats, each bound to a measured grammar.

A doctor does not only critique — it writes. It reads the fingerprint and rewrites the draft with that grammar embedded. Two modes: consult, where it gives measured deltas for free, and operate, where it takes a pass at your pages.

A correction I had built the wrong way round. These seats were designed as lenses that never write, and the chip said so. Khoa corrected it: the Wideshot transposition took only the notes half and left out the counter-cut, and the writing pass is the counter-cut. The chip is now a kind marker rather than a capability denial — and the Reference Reader keeps its genuine read-only chip, because that one really is a reader.
These six are provisional and say so. They are clustered from title-knowledge, form, and the corpus tone and theme tags; the fingerprint-distance job may re-cut the memberships. The coverage numbers below are measured from hero-grade works only — those are real. The clustering is not yet.

What you type is a private search key. It finds the Reader and is discarded — it never appears on a card, in a result, or anywhere else. Build requirement: the key resolves server-side. Shipping the author-and-title map to the browser would put the corpus index in the bundle, which is exactly what the Library split exists to prevent.

What is deliberately not on these cards

Where they live in the room

Style seats sit in the switchable row beside the role seats, not in a separate bench — there is one room, and a doctor is another face you can turn to. Made focal, the card shows that grammar's coverage line, so the thing conditioning your draft is legible at the moment it starts conditioning it. See it in the room →

Three kinds, one row, each stated. Role seats propose into the approval queue. Script doctors write too, but always in their grammar and always as a proposal — writes in grammar. And the Reference Reader genuinely never writes, so it keeps a real read only chip. Marking beats separating, as ruled — but the marks now say what each kind is rather than what one of them cannot do.

How a doctor earns its chair

Bench discipline is 4–6 deep grammars clustered from the 25 hero-grade works — not 173 shallow skins, which would teach users the personas are decoration. A work graduating the deep pipeline is how a new grammar joins. Comedy (66 works) and novels (38) have no deep-tier yet, so they have no chair yet; that is the growth engine rather than a gap.

Six is the ceiling of the 4–6 range. If the taste pass wants fewer, The Drawing Room and The Pressure Vessel are the most distinctive and the least substitutable — Will's read, and the cards bear it out: they are the two whose temperament could not be produced by blending the others.

Coverage figures are measured and printed verbatim from the corpus. Names are a skin over seat.<slug>.v1; the Bindi gate can rename every one of them in a config change. Back to the pack →
